“The Lone Battle Of This Year: Rising Sun is a song which made TVXQ transform from boys into men. At the crossroads where they have not yet been fully able to leave behind their youthful traits, these men pressed on. The images they portrayed while singing this song were not only cute, and also handsome. This year, the TVXQ who had now become a duo sang this song a few times. Standing as two, in order to be able to achieve what had previously been accomplished by five, being busy and having a difficult time were inevitable matters they faced. Their respective dance movements became much larger and their verses much longer. At the last part where U-Know Yunho showcased a solo dance break, he was dancing so intensely and furiously as if his life depended on it. However, was that (the furious dancing) really because there are only the two of them now? Shouldn’t the reason be because they have now, in no indefinite terms, become men? No matter what, they are worthy of receiving recognition. And the quality of the songs which they have released in Korea and Japan was the result of much preparation and fine-tuning, both of which cannot be easily overlooked.” — GQ Korea, December ‘11
#tbh im always a bit cut that they chose this song out of all their catalogue
#because to me its the song that best epitomises dbsk
#as a whole
#but it also fits their comeback so well
#because rs was about overcoming challenges and contiuing on even when there's nothing left
#because life goes on even if you dont keep up with it
